How theatre companies using MainPlank collect and manage consent to send text messages to cast members, crew, and other personnel.
When a staff member at a theatre company adds a new person to their roster in MainPlank, they are presented with explicit opt-in checkboxes before any messages are sent. SMS consent must be actively checked — it is never pre-selected.
Example — Add Person form
Communication consent
Only check these if you have confirmed consent directly with this person.
The staff member checking this box is attesting that they have obtained verbal or written consent from the individual prior to adding them to the system. MainPlank logs the consent grant with a timestamp, the staff member's identity, and the consent scope.
SMS messages sent through MainPlank fall into two categories:
Messages always identify the sending theatre company by name. Message and data rates may apply.
Recipients can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. Standard opt-out keywords are supported: STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT. Opting out immediately removes the recipient from all future SMS sends through MainPlank.
To opt back in, reply START or YES.
Recipients can also ask the theatre company's staff to update their preferences directly in MainPlank, or manage them through their personal portal link.
Questions about SMS consent or how your data is used can be directed to the theatre company that added you to MainPlank, or to MainPlank directly at [email protected].
